Having fun with Figures!

So, I after tidying up my basement and office, I decided to reset our Brink of Battle table with a different arrangement of scenery, this time including my Warhammer Mighty Fortress.

The next thing I knew I was hauling out every model that could be used to play our fantasy supplement, Epic Heroes.

And I tried some new techniques for shooting photos with my phone's camera.  Here's a veritable shit-ton of pics.  No rhyme or reason to it.  Just put stuff together and snapped a gob of pics.  Hope you like 'em!

Sundry murmurings

My allergies are smashing my brain up right now, but I figured I'd squeeze in a quick post before I head out to my next appointment for work.

I have been a busy beaver of late.  In fact, with so much happening in my work and personal life, I have neglected my blog posts for everything else.

Latest news is we had a great demo day at Game Kastle in Santa Clara, California this past weekend.  Ray's team kicks ass in the customer service and sales categories.  Truly an enjoyable experience.

Drew, Alan, and Dan are currently scrubbing my full 273 Trait master list for editing and mechanical fixes.  That's 2/3's of the Epic Heroes book done right there.  I'm working on the Spells and then Magic is done.  Magic Gear will round it out, followed by the Plug & Play lists.

I'm almost ready to announce the winners of our Fiction contest.  I think I've got it narrowed down, and once I'm sure, I'll make the announcement.  So if you submitted, please be patient. :)

And yes, if you know me well at all, then you'll know that I'm still gasping for air from the horrible news that Ben Assflake is going to be Batman.  I'm devastated.  That prick killed the Daredevil franchise, and now he's going to screw up my most beloved and first hero.  Shit.

Ok, enough negativity.  I'm heading out and then this weekend will be getting the basement tidy so we can start our next massive painting project for Epic Heroes.  Gonna be fun!

Scrubbing the Basement

Well, after 6 weeks of feverishly working on the Ruins of Vanis-Trymno board with Drew, my basement looked like it was hit by a Vorpal Hurricane of Chaos.  Except it left the shit in the room instead of sucking it out into the warp.

For my Birthday my Mother-in-Law, who is the Greatest, gave me some Bday money that I used to heal an old miniatures wound.

I used to own two of these until I knocked my miniatures shelf onto the floor and broke both of these in places that were not joints.  I was devastated and never sought to replace them.  Mom's money came in handy at just the right time and I picked this bugger up from ebay for $71 bucks and change!

So her gift healed the rift that was left in my soul from losing these dragons years and years ago. :)

Now I have to decide what color to paint it.

Well, gotta run, the basement excavation must continue.  Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Brink of Battle turns 7 and I turn 43!

Yeah, today marks the 7th anniversary of my initial drafting of the rules which became Brink of Battle.  It was on my 36th birthday.  It's been a really jam packed seven years.  Getting nominated for an Origins Award was icing on the cake.

I'm resuming my scrivening on the fantasy supplement, and will also be painting up more goodies.

Thanks to all of you who take the time to read my posts and shre your comments.

If you build it they will fight!

I've been on the road a lot lately for work, but am finally at a reasonable stretch where I can knuckle down and build some boards.

Drew and Scott came over to help with concepts, layouts, shopping at Lowe's and in Drew's case risking digits to a box cutter as we measured, chopped, and glued insulation foam onto particle boards.

For what? You ask?

For two new Demo Table sets for Brink of Battle.  The main event is the Ruins of Vanis-Trymno, the fantasy city that has fallen into ruin over the last 500 years in my Epic Heroes game setting.

The other is a mining operation for Wild West gaming.

No pics to follow, as we want the initial unveiling to be at ConQuest Sacramento April 5-7th.

After that we'll post pics and such to show the build progress and the final product.

Meet Starhawk!

So a couple of years ago, Drew gave me an out of production Mantis Warrior that is suh-weet.  I told him that I'd paint up a two-blade elf ranger from Reaper for him in exchange.  Like I said, that was two years ago.

As I was finishing up my new batch of old school Ral Partha, Grenadier, and Foundry models for our new fantasy project, I decided to finish this guy up too.  I call him Starhawk, cuz its kinda Seventies Fantasy sounding.

Here are some pics:

Happy New Year!
